Transplanting

We are about to destroy a raised garden as our pool build begins. The pool will have a raised planter about 30 feet long. I’m curious if it would be possible to save any of the mature plants in the raised garden for a couple of months to be re-planted in the planter wall once the pool is completed? Plants include duranta, traditional butterfly weed and another called “hello yellow,” Gregg’s blue mist flower, copper canyon daisy, lantana, etc. Can I put them in large flower pots, water the heck out of them and then put them in the new planter in October? We’re in zone 8a in San Antonio, TX.

Absolutely you can save the plants by transferring to containers!

Use a good commercial potting soil and containers with a good drainage hole.
Water as needed, moist soil but never soggy! Lessen the watering as the plants go dormant.
