Q.Transplantation Of Campanula Portenschlagiana

Zone Amsterdam | Anastasiia added on April 28, 2021 | Answered

I have just bought my campanula flowers in pots. When I came home I did a small research regarding the transplantation of these plants. I’ve read some people saying that it’s better if the flowers will be transplanted ASAP in order not to prolong their stress of transplanting later and stress them now when they’re adapting to the new environment. Some websites say that campanula has to be transplanted only in the early spring or fall. Which one it right? And when is it better to transplant campanula portenschlagiana after buying? And is there a common rule regarding all the flowers after buying those and transplanting, or it is very individual for every flower?

This is going to be something that will vary from place to place. When to transplant will be determined by your climate, mostly. Ideally, you want to transplant at anytime that the weather is fair. The mildest part of the year in your area will be appropriate. Here in the US, these times are spring and autumn. This may be the same for your area, as well. Most plants will appreciate a spring planting, while some require a fall planting.

With any Campanula, you can plant at just about any time of year. They are some of the most hardy flowers and can tolerate just about anything that you put to it! With this being said, I would advise that you go ahead and transplant, immediately, after purchase.

Here is an article that will offer more information on the plant:
