Transplant of Avocado Trees

I have grown two avocado trees in the house. I transplanted both 4 weeks ago and the both went into shock, dropping leaves like crazy. My big and oldest tree is 6 feet tall and the root ball was surprisingly small. I don’t want to lose them. Do I just continue to water and fertilize as I have done in the last 6 years? Is there something I can use to get them out of shock? I read that sugar water sometimes helps.

This is classic transplant shock. Even with the best care, plants can go into this after being moved or planted. This article will help:
