Transplant Large Potted Sago Into New Pot?

I just purchased two very large sagos that have grown in pots. When I moved them, the roots were growing out the bottoms, some were cut to remove from their original spot. Should I leave them in these existing containers? Or do they need to be repotted? I prefer not to plant them in the ground.
