Transplanting/propagating cotoneaster dammeri

We have a beautiful, mature cotoneaster that climbs a sloping garden to a water feature. Unfortunately, the water feature has to be removed and so the cotoneaster will have to come out. I want to save it and have space elsewhere to plant it but unsure if I should try to transplant it or take cuttings to propagate. I do not know how to do either and looking for some guidance.

Cotoneaster have a relatively scare root system and will likely not do well with transplanting.
Propagating by stem cuttings is certainly possible.
