Trailing Bacopa

I love this plant. I’m looking for advice on pruning it. In it’s pot, the long trails are hardy and flowered. But at the crown, the stems are bare and unattractive. I’m concerned about pruning them back so far as it will be a huge percentage of the trails. Plz advise.

Pruning these will actually encourage growth at the base again. You won’t hurt the plant to do so, but it is important to note that most of the time this plant is grown as an annual.
