Too Much Trimming On My Japanese Maple?

I think I trimmed too much on my Japanese maple. What should I do now? Will it die?

Likely, the root ball will send up its own shoot. These trees are grafted, so you may lose the top, but the root is likely a different type of Japanese Maple.
