Q.Tomato Varieties That Require Less Sunlight?

Anonymous added on April 16, 2014 | Answered

My garden site receives 5 1/2 hrs of direct sunlight. Cannot change that or the site. Are there varieties of tomatoes that have different light requirements? Previous attempts with most popular varieties have yielded very few fruits. Can you recommend a variety of tomato that is BEST suited for this condition/environment?

At the very least, tomatoes can take about 5 hours of sunlight, but even then will not likely put out good sized fruits. The only types that you might have luck with would be the cherry tomato types, as these produce much smaller fruits naturally. Unfortunately, there are no tomato varieties that I can think of that are tolerant of low light conditions, as most tomatoes require 6-8 hours or mor of sunlight to thrive.
