Tomato plants and fertilization

Do you have to plant 2 of the same kind of tomato plants next to each other in order for them to fertilize and bear fruit? I planted one “Jet Star” and it seems to be doing fine but the owner of the plant shop said I have to buy another one and plant it near the first one otherwise they won’t fertilize? Is this true. I have very little room for a garden.

Tomatoes are self pollinating plants. You do not have to have two plants in order to get tomatoes. However, if you are having difficulty in getting your plant to produce tomatoes, there are some things you can do to help it along.
