Q.Thin Asparagus

Zone Lexington, NC 27295 | Anonymous added on April 27, 2018 | Answered

In reference to one of your articles concerning thin asparagus, you suggested using 16-16-8 fertilizer. Was this a misprint? If not, where do you suggest buying it. I have checked about all local sources and have been told they have never heard of this mixture. I live in Lexington, NC.

16-16-8 fertilizer is hard to find, except at a few farm supply retailers. Some lawn fertilizers also have this ratio. However, you can substitute any fertilizer that has the same or similar ratio of approximately equal amounts N and P with a lower amount of K. Poultry manure is one option because it is high in N and P with less K.
