Q.schefflera plant

Zone Bastrop, LA | rholit318 added on May 27, 2016 | Answered

I have a very large schefflera. The new growth is up at the ceiling. If I cut the stalk, will it bush back out from the bottom under where I cut it? There are no limbs there. The stalk is very tall.

There's a good chance you'll get multiple new shoots from the stalk where you cut it. Whenever I've pruned mine, it grows back twofold, thicker and very healthy. This article may help you learn how to properly prune a schefflera: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/schefflera/schefflera-plant-care.htm
