Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comIn the past my Rose of Sharon tree has had large fluffy blooms, but this year they are very tiny & when they open they don’t really appear to look open. The branches all have lots of buds, but I wonder if this is because we’ve had a cool spring & early summer environment or if I did something wrong. I’m not sure of the exact flower name, but it looks like a Lady Stanley or Pink Chiffon. Also, there are a lot of new leaves coming up through the soil around the trunk of the tree. Should I cut them back? Thank you!

Certainly environmental conditions effect the health and appearance of a flowering shrub.
Suckers should be pruned from the plant.
