The pup is bigger than the mother plant

I bought this plant on line about 10 months ago. It was suppose to be blooming age but I did not realize another plant came up until recently.it is attached to the mother plant. It’s much taller than the mother plant. I’m not sure if I should remove and transplant or leave alone. Mother plant has not bloomed. What do I do?

It is big enough to separate and live on its own so I would separate it since it looks healthier than the mother plant. It looks like a snake plant or something similar. You could run a knife down between them to separate them. Snake plants have rhizomes beneath the soil. Here is info on how to divide:
