Q.The Older, Tougher Top Leaves On My Gunnera Have Big Chunks Disappearing.

Zone 98407 Tacoma WA | Joan.Rutherford added on May 29, 2023 | Answered

The lower more tender leaves are fine, so I suspect a flying culprit, like a leaf cutter of some kind. Almost a third of each leaf has disappeared in the last few nights. Any ideas? I tried to attach photos, but must have the wrong format.

It is hard to say. There are several insect culprits that we could suspect. I can say that a general application of Neem oil, or Azadirachtin can protect against a wide range of insects.
