Q.the leaves on my GREEN SCHEFFLERA PLANT are drooping and some are turning black

Zone 50210 | msmtam added on June 19, 2018 | Answered

I have a GREEN SCHEFFLERA PLANT. There were 2 but I broke the top off one and it died. The 2nd one is now losing the lower ‘branches’ and the new growth ones are drooping and look like they are dying. Is there anyway to save it? It was a gift from a dear friend for my Moms’s funeral. 🙁

It's hard to diagnose a plant problem without a photo and more information on the soil and water management program.
First, consider whether you could be watering too much, or too little. Dig into the soil surface with a finger and assess the subsurface moisture content. If it's dry you may need to water. If it's muddy wet or if there is water standing in the saucer, or if there is no drainage holes in the pot, then it could be water logged and the roots are too wet to function or they are decaying.
