leaves on Gardenia bush have white specks

The leaves on Gardenia bush have white specks on them. The specks do not wipe off. What do I do to protect the plant?

Since the white spots do not rub off we can rule out powdery mildew.

It looks like a type of leaf spot, possibly Cercospora leaf spot. I would recommend spraying it with a fungicide. For more information on leaf spot and the treatment thereof, please visit the following link:
