Q.The horrible weed “hairy bittercress” (Cardamine hirsuta).

Zone Washington, DC 20003 zone 7a | lynnecrew added on April 11, 2017 | Answered

I’m a Master Gardener from west coast FL and Philadelphia area, having worked both places.
Just moved to DC 6 months ago and came across the horrible, hairy bittercress in DC gardens. Took me awhile to identify it, but the article said it has a “long, deep taproot.” I haven’t found that with any of the many of them I’ve pulled out. In fact, the root system is skinny and weak and no taproot anywhere to be found. What am I doing wrong?? Help!!!
