termites in tree

I need to know how to kill termites, grubs and ants in base of tree under the bark. It’s a large oak tree. The damage is half way around the base about six feet high. Seems to be a couple of inches deep. There seems to be a lot of woodpecker damage there as well. Can this be repaired? If so, how. Thank you!!

The wood pecker damage is due to the insects and the wood pecker should go away once the insects are eliminated. As long as the tree has not been girdled (bark removed all the way around the trunk), it should be able to recover from the damage.

You will need to treat the trunk of the tree with a pesticide for ants and termites. But, that being said, I would call in a tree specialist. Termites typically do not attack healthy trees, so this would indicate that there is an issue that was affecting the tree before the pests arrived that will also need to be addressed.
