Q.Tangelo orange tree

Zone 85249 | jkucher44 added on October 1, 2016 | Answered

I have two orange trees. Last year the larger one was loaded with fruit and has been every year but this year. There are few fruits on either tree. Last year my smaller orange tree hardly produced, and now both are hardly producing. Is there something wrong with the trees and is there something I should be doing? This is in Chandler, Arizona.

One possibility is that some varieties will bear in alternate years, with a heavy crop in one year and a ligt crop in the next year. Cold temperatures that kill blossoms, insufficient fertilizer, and watering problems can all cause poor fruit production.
