Q.Tall, skinny plumeria recently bent…what should I do?

Zone 85286 | SuzieMargaret added on June 15, 2018 | Answered

Hi, I have had a plumeria for 3 years…it grows leaves during the spring and summer, so it seems to be ok. However, it is getting really tall, staying super skinny and has not had any side branches. NOW, I just went to adjust the wood stake I have to support it and mistakenly bent the trunk. It still looks fine, but a little bit of the milk has oozed where it is bent, just under where the leaves are growing. What do I do? Pray that it doesn’t die? Cut it at the damage part and remove the top?

This is not, usually, fatal. It can indicate that the plant is not receiving enough light, or may need a bigger container.

This article will help with the care of these: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/plumeria/growing-plumeria.htm
