Taking potted magnolia tree inside

How do I care for a potted magnolia tree that was outside (Michigan). I thought I must bring it inside or in my garage at least. What type of care will it need?

You can bring your magnolia indoors for the winter, but after this season, it is best to plant the tree in the ground. If your magnolia is deciduous, give it light until it loses its leaves, then you can put it in a garage. Water sparingly and do not fertilize. If evergreen, it will probably do better if you supply it with light all winter by treating it as a houseplant.
