Taking care of an overgrown peach tree

Hello,

I read your helpful articles about taking care of peach trees. We recently moved into a new home and inherited a very large, overgrown peach tree. The tree looks like it has never been pruned. Most branches are high up and out of reach, but I know the tree is still producing fruit, because we saw some in the yard last summer.

My questions is: is there still hope for this peach tree? And if so, how do we properly take care of it? I’m not sure which branches to prune and how to safely reduce the size of the tree without hurting it. Please advise.

Sincerely,
K. Lorenc

You will need to wait until early spring to prune.
