Taking A Cutting From A Totem Pole Cactus

Question

I have a very large totem pole cactus with four or five large arms leaning toward East. Each arm is 8-12 feet long and very heavy. I want to know if I can remove the large arms and replant them. I live in Mesa Arizona and have grown the plant from 12-16 inches over many years of course.
