Does wisteria growing on trees kill the tree?
If you are talking about an out-of-control chinese wisteria, I'd have concerns. The weight alone is enough to cause smaller limbs to break. Vines whose leaves cover a tree's leaves cause death to that limb since sunlight isn't reaching its leaves.

My wife has never had blooms on her wisteria. Can you tell me how to make it bloom?
Depending on if it was from seed, or cutting, it can take 6 years or more to show flowers. If it is older than this, and you know it should be flowering, then try fertilizing with a high phosphorus and potassium fertilizer.

does wisteria like acid or alkaly soil
Wisteria grows best in slightly acidic to neutral soil, with a pH range of 6 to 7. Soil pH matters a great deal to your plant's health.

My garden fence is covered by Iveys, can I grow wisteria on it?
If you live in zones 5-9 you can grow Wisteria.
My wisteria died because of root rot. Can I plant new wisteria in the same spot or must I treat the soil before planting? If I need to treat what do I use?
Some infections can be cured, and some cannot. To be on the safe side, I would choose a new location. If you still want to attempt to correct this area, then wettable sulfur and dolomitic lime will kill it if it is able to be killed.
Was the root rot caused by poorly drained soil?
Wisteria need moist and well draining soil, so if you need to amend the soil, do so before planting again.
