What kills wild onion & garlic the best ?
These are very prolific, but there are two things that I can rely on, completely, to kill off any pest plants. Vinegar, when sprayed directly on the plant, will kill it very fast. Boiling water, when poured on, will kill them without effecting the soil at all. This is the safest method, but either will work.
How do I get rid of the wild onion that is spreading more and more every year? It is now in my lawn grass. It looks like tall patches of grass that encroaches more every year. When you dig it up it has little white bulbs (looks like tiny onions) that there is no end to underneath the grass shoots. Thanks Gloria Barnes-Philadelphia
This can be quite difficult to do. This article will guide you on getting rid of these: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/weeds/killing-wild-onions.htm
Growing tired of pulling and digging thick clumps of wild onions by hand for 20+ years, I read about them and learned that their growing season is winter and that they don't like lime. So on a mild day in Jan. 2019 I cut them off at ground level and covered the bare spots with 1/8-1/4" of lime and they are gone!!! No toxic chemicals and no digging! This method might work for other people.
This will work, but make sure that you test your pH, as applying lime to the soil can also raise the pH too high to sustain most plants. Be sure to adjust the pH back down to 6.5 to 7 when you are ready to plant.
It is very hard to tell from that photo, but it appears to be wild garlic.

Either by killing it or a wild flower/ bulb that will out complete it

I read your article on how to kill these beasts and I am wondering how to best kill them right next to my house. They are coming up in the crack between the house and the sidewalk. I cut as much as I could off last fall and sealed the crack with concrete filler, but they broke through that and are back with force. They are EVERYWHERE!
They are beasts! Just keep after it like the article says. I can't believe it broke through the concrete filler. I had some success with repeat applications of herbicide. Here are herbicide options:
