Hi, I just started to grow my wheatgrass. I have a few questions as I have search all over the internet and not able to find answers. 1. Everywhere on the internet says takes about 10 days for wheatgrass to get to 8 inch tall. I am on day 15, my wheatgrass still 5 inch tall only. Any idea if in this timeframe, the wheatgrass still good and nutrition still good? 2. Everywhere on the internet says when the wheatgrass starts to split at around 7 to 8 inch, then it is good to harvest. Two days ago I noticed my wheatgrass is spliting and it's only 4 inch tall. In that case, should I harvest at 4 inch tall when split? Or should I wait for the wheatgrass get to 8 inch tall? Thank you so much !!!
What are the growing conditions? Are these indoor or outdoor? What do you feed with? There could be a few issues. My first guess is lack of light, followed by lack of nutrients.
You should harvest when they start to split, regardless of size. The size could be related to light, or nutrient issues. Can you describe what you are using?
I have planted winter wheat in my vegetable garden last fall. When do I dig it under and how long does it take to decompose? Or how soon can I start planting vegetables?
Here is an article that suggests waiting 2 weeks after tilling the winter wheat under. https://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/yard-garden/vegetables/green-manure-cover-crops-for-minnesota/doc/M1228.pdf
