Would it be ok to spray Ortho Weedkiller, wait 1-2 weeks than rake the dead weed and put sods? I'm worried that some of the weedkillers will still be in the soil and kill the sod. any other Suggestion will be appreciated Thank you for your response
Laying sod takes more prep than just killing weeds. Here is a nice tutorial from This Old House. It takes place in New England where soils are acidic and lime is used to increase pH. If you are in a different region, applying lime may not be necessary and may indeed be the wrong thing to do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIFTgv4T4A8.
I see some really persistent weeds in your yard. Of particular concern is creeping charlie, aka ground ivy. It often takes more than one application of herbicide to kill it. All weed killers come with instructions on when seed or sod can be applied. Depending on which herbicide is used, it can be as long as 3-4 weeks.
What is the easiest way to get rid of weeds between my pavers?
The most simple solution would be to pour boiling water on them. This will kill any weed. Just avoid pouring it directly on your plants that you don't want to be harmed.
Hi there, I read a blog about weedkillers and it highly recommended Barclays Gallup weedkiller. I thought, easy - let's go and buy some. Then I found out there is Gallup 360, Gallup XL, Gallup Home and Garden. My question is - what one is best? I don't have kids or dogs - I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Could you let me know the pro's and con's of each please? Thanks!
They will be as follows, respectively: Long lasting formula, Extra concentrated, and Standard. You will want to choose based on your needs, and how bad the infestation is.
How do you kill it?
The first step in knowing how to kill a weed is to identify it. Some weeds respond to glyphosate, others need stronger measures. Can you post a picture?
Should I put down a weed barrier if planting ground cover? I am concerned the great cover will not spread through the barrier.
We would not recommend using a weed barrier.
Mulching is a good way to help hold back weeds and keep moisture levels for a newly growing ground cover.

I tried making a salt water solution as described in the article to kil weeds on my driveway. The salt will not disolve, even when I have boiled the solution.
It sounds like the water is completely saturated with salt. Most should dissolve, all except what has no room to be dissolved. You can take a small taste of the water to make sure that it is, in fact, salty. Are you using regular table salt? Water can only hold so much, so what is left over will not dissolve. Alternatively, if there is way too much in there, then it will start precipitating out into a solid again.
I want to use natural salt /vinegar solution to kill weeds taking over in my grass. Will it also kill any grass I have left?
Yes, using a vinegar solution will kill the grass. I've used vinegar and blue Dawn dish detergent and it killed the grass. It's best to use in garden beds.
