I am a novice at vegetable gardening! I have multiple raised beds. Tried the Square Foot Method and had a lot of bugs and disease, which I am attributing to plants just spaced too closely together. (I think.) Now trying to figure out proper plant spacing for good air circulation to help prevent some of this. What the heck does 'planting in a hill' mean? I see different spacing listed for planting in a hill vs rows and don't get it.
Some vegetables, such as squash, melons, cucumbers, and corn, can be planted on small hills that you would build out of soil in your garden. This has some of the same advantages that raised beds provide, but since you already have raised beds you don't need to plant on hills, and you can just use the row spacings.
If you are in a humid climate, some of the closer spacings you see listed might lead to high humidity and more disease problems, so it's best to look for local advice (like from the website of a local university extension service) and to use varieties that are known to do well in your climate. Hello, Would please refer me to a source such as a website regarding what kind of vegetables and fruits I can grow in Springfield NewJersey
Your growing zone is 6b.
We don't recommend specific web sites or businesses.
Do a search for plants available for your growing zone. Visit local garden centers and greenhouses; they will have plants specific to your region.

Should you put tree leaves in your vegetable garden as you till the soil for planting? Is that good for vegetable gardens?

Is Miracle Groh perlite with fertilizer recommended for use in a vegetable garden plot?
Miracle-Gro potting mix contains nontoxic amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium for fertilizer and is recommended for container vegetables at the manufacturer's own website. All plants need these three basic nutrients for healthy growth.

I have 2 4'x8' raised garden beds. I also have chickens. I spread manure throughout the beds sparingly about 4 cups or less per bed. I didn't put them up close to the stems. Do you think this will burn up or kill my plants? Hoping this will be safe since I didn't use a lot of manure. Thanks!
4 cups in a 4 x 8 raised bed does not sound like much; Chicken manure is very high in nitrogen. The effects could be in lack of fruiting. If you see issues with lush green plants, you could add some phosphorous to help balance the soil nutrients.
