First of all to clarify that I have the correct Jasmine. Is the Star J the one with the sweet heavy perfume with a mass of white flowers? What is a good feeder that contains phosphorus please and do you think mushroom compost would cut it? I have tried to grow J 2x before but I think the soil needs something. It is a small piece of garden do you think I need to dig it out and replace it with new soil or just mulch heavily? Many thanks C
Both star jasmine and true jasmine are very fragrant, but star jasmine looks like the following images:

Mushroom compost is quite low in phosphorus. Bone meal is a great way to add phosphorus to a garden:

Rock phosphate or synthetic fertilizers are other options:

If your jasmine has died twice before, there could be something wrong with the planting site. Will anything grow there? If not, replacing the soil may be necessary. You could also do a pH test to see if the pH is a problem. Also, check the drainage to make sure plants aren't drowning. You can try the drainage test in the following article, or simply watch the area after a rain or after watering to see if the soil stays waterlogged for a long time.

What should I do with the brown leaves on the vine of my star jasmine? Some have fallen off the vine, but others are still on the vine. Help!
You can take these dead leaves off with no harm to the plant.
This article will give you more information on the care of these: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/jasmine/star-jasmine-as-ground-cover.htm
Do I need to wait until it has finished flowering before taking cuttings.

Would they eat them? also i have mature plants that have been left alone.
Rabbits will definitely nibble on young plants. This article will help you to keep them away: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/animals/keep-rabbits-out-of-gardens.htm
Planted this star jasmine vine less than a week ago and it now has this on the new growth. The nursery it was purchased from says they do not know what this could be. Has anyone seen this before? If you have seen this do you know what it is and how to get rid of it?
It looks a lot like an egg mass but I think you have scale insects. Also read up on another white insect pest, mealybugs.

will the deer eat star jasmine?
Star jasmine is deer resistant, but not deer proof.

We bought our home in 1983. Half of the yard was full of Star Jasmine. Just this year a our gardener's helper cut the plants, now the leave are falling off. It seems as if they are dying. What do we do? We have never had a problem before.
