Seeking information about butterflies and plants they are attracted to. Our garden club maintains a butterfly garden for a local elementary. We are making labels for the various plants in the garden and want to identify which plants are nectar or hosts for different butterflies. I can't find anything on the Shrimp Plant, Poppy, Russian Sage, Amaryllis, Paper White or Evening Primrose. Your help would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Here are links that will help you with the plants in question.
Good luck with this wonderful project.

Some of red flowers have black on the ends. Is this bad? My plant is outside and only gets morning sun.
Shrimp plant bracts turn black as they age and the plant begins to form seeds.

My Shrimp plant is in full bloom, in the ground, but is very leggy. How can I bring it to full bloom? How can I braid the branches?
Here are some photos of braided shrimp plants to give you an idea of how it is accomplished. As you can see, you will need a support inserted into the ground to latch your braided tree onto.

Shrimp plants are one of those plants that need to be pruned regularly to keep them from getting leggy and is a plant that will benefit from a hard pruning every spring. Pruning encourages bushiness in the plant. It is also a good idea to pinch off the growing tips to encourage branching and bushiness.

Over winter the branches all fell off and now I can't get it to blossom again.
A shrimp plant will bloom for months and then will rest for a short time before blooming again. However, given the period of time that has elapsed, I recommend that you vigorously cut it back (by about half) to encourage new growth and blooms, keep the soil consistently moist (but not damp/soggy) and perhaps give it a dose of fertilizer as well.

What kind of fertilizer does a shrimp plant require and how often?
Here is a link to refresh you on the care requirements.
If you fertilize use a water soluble balanced fertilizer.

Please can you advise me on where or from whom I can purchase Shrimp Plant seeds? Regards and thank you. Ernie Adams
Do a search for 'Shrimp plant seeds' on your favorite search engine.
Ebay can be a source of seeds also.
My shrimp plant's leaves are curling really bad. What does that mean? This plant is in a pot outside and noticed in the past few days that the leaves on the plant are curling. I need to know what to do at this point.
Curling leaves can indicate an insect issue.
Inspect the plant for any signs of aphids or other insects.
Treat the plant with Neem Oil, this works as both an insecticide and fungicide.
Here are some links for you.
