I have a schefflera plant that has grown top heavy. We almost lost it this winter but now it is coming back with a large puff at the very top and a couple of other shoots on the long tall stalk. Is it possible to cut the top off an replant it? If so, what should I do with the new shoots that are coming out? If not, how can I get this plant to look pretty again? I have had this plant for over twenty years and do not want to lose it. Thank you, Kay Butler

I have a GREEN SCHEFFLERA PLANT. There were 2 but I broke the top off one and it died. The 2nd one is now losing the lower 'branches' and the new growth ones are drooping and look like they are dying. Is there anyway to save it? It was a gift from a dear friend for my Moms's funeral. :(
It's hard to diagnose a plant problem without a photo and more information on the soil and water management program.
First, consider whether you could be watering too much, or too little. Dig into the soil surface with a finger and assess the subsurface moisture content. If it's dry you may need to water. If it's muddy wet or if there is water standing in the saucer, or if there is no drainage holes in the pot, then it could be water logged and the roots are too wet to function or they are decaying.
mine is not and its sprouting leaves at the very top that are like a fan. ois this normal? how do i control the fan look?
That plant is doing exactly as it should be. There is nothing to control. This article will help you with the care of these: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/schefflera/schefflera-plant-care.htm
Schlefflera Plant overflow water in the base plate is a very rusty red and stained my carpet when I moved it outside. Does the red color mean it is diseased? Is that water poisonous and the plant and container thrown away?
The color is likely from both the soil and water, and them mixing.
You should use a good quality potting soil in your plants.

I have the plan in the photo attached which leaves on one of the branches are going down and dying, I am afraid that other branches will be touched. Is there anything I can do to stop that. Should I cut the sick branch, where should I cut?
This appears to be the start of a fungal infection. The best course of action from here will be that the next time you water, you will replace 1/4 of that with peroxide. You should only need to do this once. It will kill off the infection while leaving your plant alone.

I did that a tried again, seems i need another idea for this plant? Any suggestions?
My plants leaves are turning black and falling off and beginning to look a little soapy. What is causing this? I just got them and I've never had them before. I bought them because they are supposedly easy to care for but these just seem to be dying on me. I'm not over-watering them and they are inadequate, non direct sunlight.
This is common of a fungal infection. You can cure this, since it is early enough. You will need some wettable sulfur, and Dolomitic lime. These two will kill the infection, and balance out the pH of the soil to prevent future infections.
