We transplanted a large Scarlet Oak (25') in Dec. It seemed to grow well last year but it is not a densly-branched tree. The tree was loaded with buds, but now only about half of the buds have leafed out at this point; we're getting concerned. Maybe a third of the branches have not leafed out at all, while some of the branches covered with baby leaves. Is it normal for this tree to have a range of leaf-out condition between branches?
