Check for root development by gently pulling on the cutting. If itshows some resistance, then roots have usually developed. If it pulls out too easily, then it should be left alone and rechecked within another week or two.

These suckers can be transplanted and have a good chance of surviving. You need to make sure that they have some roots of their own when you move them. Depending on their size, you may want to pot the little trees up for at least a whole season before planting out in the yard. This way they will be able to form stronger roots.

Please expand the question. Are you asking how to divide a plant with stolon's or rhizomes? Are you asking how to root a cutting? What type plant? You cannot propagate a plant by roots alone, you must have vegetative material with the capability t o send out new growth.

They need to air out some. I would suggest adding some holes in the plastic for ventilation.

Yes, according to many plant propagation enthusiasts, honey is a great substitute for rooting hormone. Just dip the ends of your cuttings in honey instead. Here is more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/propagation/cuttings/honey-root-hormone.htm
