Pampas grass vs. septic tanks/leach lines. How far away should these plants be from leach lines?
They really just need to be kept 10-20 feet away, and that is being on the safe side. A few feet, in theory would be enough, but better safe than sorry.
We have planted a Cortaderia Rosa pampas grass in our garden. But it does not seem to be growing very quickly. What could the possible reasons be for this? We have had the grass in our garden now for at least a year and it is only about 18-24 inches tall.
Check the culture - well drained soil, enough moisture, full sun, etc. - to make sure the plant has what it needs. Then consider the cultivar; 'rosa' is a dwarf variety, and may take several years to reach its full potential. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/foliage/pampas-grass/growing-pampas-grass.htm
In zone 5B (Minden, N Nevada), when should pampas grass be trimmed back? I was planning on cutting back the pampas grass at the beginning of February. The day temps are in the high 50's, lows 28F to 38F. Would that be correct?
Thanks
Eddie Sanderson
Prune your pampas grass in late winter or early spring, preferably just before new growth appears.

Eight plants are in a line spaced about 4' apart and the flowerbed is rich with chicken manure compost and sphagnum moss which normally grows ANYTHING.
You will not be able to change your pink pampas grass to a red color.
You may see different shades of the original pink plant color, depending on light and growing conditions.

I have a lot of pampas grass in my gardens and just received a pink pampas grass and would like to put it in a container. I have a greenhouse so I can winter it in there during the cold weather.
Yes! You certainly can grow pampas grass in a container.

What happens to pampas grass if it's not cut back? Will the brown turn green and start growing, which means it will grow taller?
It is recommended to prune pampas grass each year to the ground in late winter or early spring. The brown stuff is dead material and will not turn green nor will it grow, which might give your grasses a more ratty appearance. I also think that if the grasses aren't cut back every year it will be that much more difficult to cut them back when and if you decide to do so.

I have 30 year old pampas grass plants that are in shade and are not performing well. Should these just come out?
Pampas grass prefers sun but will tolerate partial shade. I would move them to a new location if you would like to keep it growing.
Digging up Pampas grass is no easy task, but may be worth it to keep your showy plumes blooming.
I have listed a few links for you.
