Are shamrock plants toxic to cats?
The plants commonly sold as "shamrock plant" are Oxalis species. Yes, these are mildly toxic to cats, especially if they eat a lot of it:

I bought several shamrock plants to grow in my brightly lit kitchen, and at first they were okay. I bought them around St. Patrick's day. They were really pretty. Today they look like they are failing, turning brown and falling over. I have tried more water and less, and also more or less light. Can someone help? I have always had good luck in spring. I do not have a picture at this time. Thank you, Carol Brown in Birmingham
It is probably a water issue. Indoor potted plants are usually more prone to overwatering than underwatering. The best way to know when to water is to feel the soil- check to make sure the soil is dry about 1 inch below the surface before you water each time.
Another way to tell the difference is that a plant that is to dry will appear wilted, but when you water it, it will perk up. A plant that's too wet may appear wilted, but it will still look wilted a couple hours after you water it.
How deep to plant the seeds and the spacing?
Seeds can be direct sown in the garden in late summer or autumn.
A shallow planting depth and cover with soil. Space 3 to 16 inches apart.
Rhizomes are a good way to plant Oxalis.

Can I repot my oxalis ( did once) in a bigger pot and how big will it grow? I don't recall a dormancy period and I've had it for a few years-- is this possible? Can they ever be put outside in the piot? Debbie Merrifield in Buffalo, NewYork
If you didn't slow and then withhold watering, your plant did not die back,
it likely grew less during a winter period.

My green oxalis started to get white-dotted spots (dries areas) on the leafs and it started to grow in a very short while. The new leafs do not look healthy at all. They are either not that green or completely yellow or almost dead. I would be thankful for any solution.
This appears to be an infestation of Scale pests.
Treat the plant with Neem Oil.

My plant has been growing very well. Now many leaves and lovely white flowers. Many of the leaves are spotted with white blotshes: 1 eighth -to 1 quarter inch. How can I remove these marfks?
This could be due to water spotting from overhead watering, or pests and disease.
You may need to inspect more closely. Mealybugs can appear white as well as Powdery Mildew.
