My shamrock does not appear to have the shamrock fungus or spider mites, as I have seen described before. Each stem and leaf comes up and appears to be healthy, then, in a short while, usually less than two weeks, the leaves begin to turn pale and get what looks like dried water drops on the upper side. They then continue to turn paler (kind of like the fuchsia pink that the under side usually is, but finally almost translucent and beginning to curl and rumble up. Finally they die. In the meantime, the plant is continuing to bloom and new shoots continue to come up. This began this summer and, at first, I thought it had gotten sunburned, as I had it on a sunny kitchen window sill with pretty much full daylight and a southwestern facing full sun from about 3 pm to sundown. So I took it out of the window and put it in indirect light, fertilized lightly, top dressed it with fresh potting soil and watered sparingly, after giving it a deep soak in the sink first. It seemed to be coming out of it, but is now acting just the same.
I don't think there is anything wrong with your Shamrock Plant.
Most people are not aware that the plant is actually a bulb.
It needs a rest and dormant period.

How do you get rid of oxalis?
My shamrock plant has gone dormant during winter months. When will it start to grow again?
During dormancy the plants leaves will die back. Your plant will require a darkened location, no fertilizer and light watering.
When dormancy breaks the plant will began growing again.

I recently moved my shamrocks and all of the shoots are falling down. Should I cut them off? According to your web site, they hibernate and I should put them in a dark room. I have never done that before, should I start now?
Yes, when the shoots die back, your plants will appreciate being moved into darkness and the other hibernation conditions described in the article. When new shoots appear, you can move it back into the light and resume normal care.
Do they like to be in the sun? Direct or filtered? Should they be watered weekly? Or only when soil is dry to touch?
Oxalis prefer morning sun and filtered light later in the day. The development of legginess is usually an indication that there's not quite enough light.
For water, that depends on your soil (well draining or moisture holding) and how dry the surrounding air is. Try watering every 3 to 4 days. If you see wilting, add water. Assuming this corrects the situation, you now have a good idea of the ideal timing for your situation.
