Certified ExpertA.I am happy to help! This information will not cost you a thing... Any variety of okra needs as much sun as you can give them. They would thrive with even more than that!
These sun hungry plants will tolerate just about any soil, as they are native to clay soils with poor nutrient content, but will appreciate a good feeding and fertile soil.

Dl150anQ.Could you please identify this growing on my grape vine
Hi. I grew some plants from white grape seeds in the spring this year. There are large cream flowers that have developed into these green fruits. I cannot find anything like these on the internet. Does anybody know what they are. They are about 30mm in length and still growing

Certified ExpertA.That would be Okra! Maybe the seeds were mislabeled at the factory, or some okra seeds got planted by accident.
Might as well care for them properly!

Hi iam planning to grow okra organically.Can we plant sunflower & sweet pepper plant along with okra for pest control? If yes, should it be planted in a separate row or in-between okra? Kindly specify the interval distance if to be planted in-between okra..Thanks.

January 15, 2019A.You can, just follow the instructions on the seed pack, as many different plants will get a different size depending on the cultivar. If you want good insect protection, though, then you can plant marigolds or nasturtiums between them. It can help to plant between the rows. Just follow the greatest distance between the two seed packs.

50278Q.How do you get okra to germinate ? Tried peat pots with starting mix over heat mat but no luck after 2 weeks. Seeds soaked in water
24 hour prior. Last year's okra seeds will not germinate . New seeds did not germinate after soaking over night , then starting soil in peat pots over heat mat since germinating temp. must be high.

Certified ExpertA.Okra doesn't like wet media. This is the most usual suspect when questioning why okra won't germinate. I like to place my seeds directly into soil, and water just enough to wet the area and keep just that small area moist until germination, or you can get the soil slightly moist before planting.
Make sure that when you squeeze the soil, no drops of water come out. If you see excess water at all then it is too wet.
