We have planted monkey grass twice and half of it dies. We have it along the walkway to the wedding site by the lake. The walkway looks unkempt because of the many open spaces on both sides of the walkway. How often should I water and how much? It's very frustrating! I'm always re-planting new monkey grass. Some of the monkey grass looks great, but then there are many dead spots.

Is it safe for monkey grass can grow against the brick wall of your house without causing termite or bug crawling into the walls? I don't mind having monkey grass, just want to be sure it's ok to have against the wall. Thank you! grace T. Wyman
There should be no reason your couldn't use Monkey Grass as a foundation planting. I would recommend not planting right up against the house structure. You want there to be room to grow and air circulation.
I'm having a hard time finding monkey grass disease problems. I see yellowing and dried out patches on the blades It's getting worse and we need help asap. The spots on the blades are circular in shape or rather oval. Can you help?
This is Anthracnose fungus. Treat with a Fungicide.

What is the best way to cut monkey grass back?
As explained in this article, you can cut back monkey grass in spring as far as you like, as long as you leave at least 3 inches uncut:

What flowers can I plant with Monkey Grass?
Almost all perennials, grasses and bulbs would work nicely with Monkey Grass.
Low growing ground covers also work nicely bordering Monkey Grass.
What type of fertilizer should be used on monkey grass and when should it be applied? Should you fertilize after transplanting in early May?
I would wait for active growth and then apply a light 10-10-10 general fertilizer.

I have had monkey grass (6-7 around some flowers I plant every year (annuals)) in a specific place and every year we would cut it down because, of course, it has gotten much bigger and never had a problem. My neighbor cut them back with his lawn mower this year because they were so out of control (because I am older and cannot spend hours trying to cut them down by hand and my husband always took care of them but passed away last year). They look dead in the middle and overall don't really look good. Do you think I am not watering it enough???
If the center dies out it may be an indication that they need to be divided.
Monkey Grass can also suffer from crown rot fungus.
