We have a mature mango that bloomed profusely several weeks ago. Last week suddenly the leaves wilted. We have had a spell of dry weather lately so we tried some supplemental watering with no change. The area is well drained. I have never seen this happen to a mature mango tree it looks healthy otherwise no visible insect or disease issues. Please help -we love our mangoes!
This sounds like verticillium wilt. This disease can be very hard to control. This article will give you more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/mango/mango-tree-diseases.htm
I had trimmed down my mango tree over a year and a half ago. It has a lot of new leaves, but it has not been flowering. What can I do to induce the flowers so that we can ha e some fruits. I read that you can use calcium nitrate. Is this a fertilizer that is readily available? I also heard that you can use diluted bleach at the root of the plant? I only see a couple of blossoms, but they just dried up without any fruits. Any help would be very much appreciated.
A heavy pruning will often cause the flowering process to halt for awhile. Calcium nitrate will not likely help with flowering, as nitrogen usually prevents flowering in excess. The calcium can help with deficiencies, but it will no, necessarily, help with flowering. Bleach can help with ornamentals, but it can also take away a few years of its lifespan also.
I would recommend letting them fully recover from the hard pruning, then adding potassium and phosphorus. You can also try spraying with cytokines, but this can be dangerous to your health if misused.
Hi! Excellent info on here (I've already watched several videos / read several articles on Mango tree :) I thought someone who knows far more than I would enjoy sharing some knowledge since I'm attaching two specific pictures - I'm trying to determine if I should begin "tipping" this tree (see pics) or if it's too young to yet chop off anything. Any advice based on these pictures? Thanks! -Mike
If this is a dwarf variety, then go ahead. If this is a standard, then I would not do this. It will make it bushy, but branching it this low will make for a difficult tree to maintain. If this is where you want the branching to start, then you can prune, but next year you will want to take off almost all of the lower growth so that it does not become a tangled mess.
I would, personally, still wait one more season at least.
I have two mango trees in my garden. They are special bud grafted species which I bought at local nursery. Its about 2 years old and about 7 feet tall and growing well with lots of leaves but not flowering hence not fruiting. It should start fruiting within a year. Please help. Someone says I should throw some common salt and ash around the tree to improve the soil condition..is this true?

I have a tropical mango plant and the leaves are starting to turn brown and its struggling to grow. It is almost three months or more now and is not even a foot tall. How can I help it to grow?
Can you send a picture? This can be hard to diagnose, as this can happen for many, many reasons. If I am able to see it, then I can better diagnose what is going on.
I would imagine that a fungal infection has set in. Make sure to only water when the top of the soil is almost completely dry. At this point, if all leaves are turning brown, then it could be that it is passed the point of saving.
