Should we mulch under our magnolia tree or will the exposed roots rot?
Either way will be fine. There will be no harm in mulching the root area, but they will be fine without it as well.

Have a newly planted tree and the temp is suppose to be 29 degrees for two hours. Should I cover the tree that has blossoms?
The blossoms will likely fall off either way. This will not kill the tree, however. They can tolerate much more cold than this. It will return to normal as the temperatures remain steady.
Hi,glad to have found this site! I'm in zone 10, bought a magnolia tree from a lot cal nursery, but can't remember the name. Right now it has a lot of blooms but no beetles! It is 3 yrs old,saw beetles the first year, that's all. How can I get the beetles to help the flowers bloom? Thank You
There are many beetles that will eat and help pollination with this tree. I would recommend planting things nearby that will attract a variety of beetles. Beans, peas, potatoes, and many other garden vegetables will bring about a host of beetles, as well as many tender flowers.
I’ve had four magnolia trees transported from ground to pots and three look like they are on they’re way out. What can I do to save them? Tks
You will want to remove the leaf growth that has died off. Then you will remove the dead stem down to the green part. You will want to get this into ground, or very good potting soil, and a fairly large container very soon. This will take a little while to recover. Make sure to keep it moist, but not fully wet or dry until it recovers.

What specific fertilizer should I use on "Little Gem" Magnolia trees. I own three and they are about 1 1/2 years old. I have not fertilize yet. I would like to this Spring. Some articles recommend a balanced organic fertilizer, but others state these trees prefer a more acid fertilizer. Please inform me as to what is best. Is there a specific fertilizer you would recommend? Thank you.

We recently moved into an old cottage and have just noticed, in the front garden, a very healthy looking small magnolia bush (it has several main branches and is not tree shaped). It is approx 3ft tall at present and just coming into flower and it looks very pretty. It is planted in the border and, size and colour wise, is currently in keeping with the rest of the plants and shrubs. However, what worries me is how big it is going to grow and I wonder if, once it has flowered, I could prune it back to prevent it getting much taller? The other option is to dig it up (it is small enough) and give it to a relative - we have nowhere else to put it. Any advice appreciated.
Unless you know the cultivar of the magnolia, then it could get very tall. Well over 30 feet. Since it is still young, it may be best to dig it up and relocate it. This article will help you in doing so: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/tgen/transplanting-trees.htm
I have a small saucier magnolia plant in a pot that has wilting leaves, what is happening & how do I correct this?
