I have a Longan fruit tree, about 10 years old, in southern California (Los Angeles) in a sunny place. It was bought from a nursery cutting, about 1. 5 feet with root. It got lots of flowers, but very few fruits every year. The tree is about 8-10 feet tall. Very green and lots of branches, about 20. What kind of fertilizer should I feed it in order to get more fruits? Please advise.
In general, longan trees bear erratically (i.e., not every year) and in some years little to no fruit is produced. However, you can try using high phosphorus fertilizer as well as enticing additional pollinators to the area.
Hi...I read the below article https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/longan-tree/growing-dragons-eye-plants.htm I have a few questions please 1. How many times do you water a week for spring and summer? I don't water from for fall and winter. Rain is enough 2. I have access to compost and I plant to top dress my longan every month. Is that okay? Thanks
One inch a week is considered regular water application. The nutrient value of compost is low and should not be used as a replacement for fertilizer. Here is more:
