My lime "bushes" were very prolific growing in pots this year. And they are very large...perhaps 1 and a half to twice typical size. But when they matured and were ready for picking (falling off the bush), they were yellow like lemons. They taste good as limes and there is no question that they are limes. They got organic fertilizer and miracle grow over the year. Why are they yellow? Is it a lack of nutrients? Apparently, they are healthy because they have started to blossom again even as mature fruit is falling away from the plant.
If the limes are yellowing, they are over ripe. You should pick and harvest before they start to turn yellow.

I take care of a lime tree and I can't get it to grow new growth. I am watering it ok and it did have spider mites but looks like they are gone finally but is still losing leaves here and there and has a lime on it...just can't get it to produce new growth. Can you give me some ideas?
It's difficult to know for sure what is going on with your tree without actually having a look at it. You may want to check here on GardeningKnowHow to make sure you are following all of the steps you need to do for it to grow well: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/lime/lime-tree-tips-care-of-lime-trees.htm
I want to save a frozen potted lime tree. I have a potted dwarf lime tree that was exposed to unexpected frigid temperatures for a couple of days. It was covered, but still it was very cold and somewhat exposed. It has lost the majority of its leaves. I do not know what to do to save it. Should I cut it down low and start over? It produced over 28 limes this past summer and fall. I am clueless about what to do with it to save it. Please help. Valerie Young.
The best option is to wait until spring (while protecting the plant from any further winter damage) and see if the tree starts growing again. Even if it loses all its leaves, the trunk may still be alive and able to put out leaves again in the spring. You'll then be able to see which parts of the tree are dead, and prune accordingly.
Here's how to check whether a tree is completely dead:
