My lilacs were at our campground and the deer were feasting on them. They are only about 2 feet tall. I have moved them home and am wondering if they will recover. They have never blossomed
Most of the time, they can recover from severe damage if you can keep them from getting more damaged. Here are a couple of articles that will help you with pruning and care:
I live in south western Nova Scotia,
It depends. The best time for pruning lilac bushes is right after their flowering has ceased. This allows new shoots plenty of time to develop the flower buds for the next season (2024) of blooms. Pruning lilacs too late can kill young developing buds and result in no or fewer blooms in 2024.
This lilac has been growing sideways ever since we moved in to this property. Would you just saw it off at the base and be done with it or would you do something with it? It is awkward the way it is and if it keeps growing sideways it’s going to block a pathway. If it was upright it might be 5’ tall. The ground around here is mostly rocky and hard so it would be very hard to dig out. Sorry the pictures, aren’t great, it’s in an awkward location. I think I just need someone’s permission to cut it down. Thank you.

I like the looks of the snow on the mountain mixed with the lilacs and hydrangeas, but are they harmful?
Snow-on-the-mountain refers to two different groundcovers, both of which can be aggressive. However, I don't think a shrub such as lilac or hydrangea would suffer. Those groundcovers are more likely to overtake annuals or perennials.
