Soil PH? Shade! What type grass?
Please include photos. It will be very difficult to know what the issue is without seeing the damage. Also, we won't be able to tell you what type of grass it is without a photo, and it can even be difficult with one.
Please include photos and a description of your feeding/watering schedule and any other information that would help us to determine what is wrong with your lawn.
Hello, we moved to our house last year and this diamond shape appeared on our lawn. It went over winter but has come back worse. Please see pic. Any help appreciated.
It's not characteristic of any pest or disease pattern that I know of. It must be a wear pattern from foot traffic or kids play area? , or underlying soil compaction or other soil disturbance.
This article will help you.

My lawn has become over run with 'ghost slugs.' Can normal slug killer kill them? Can you recommend a product please? Preferably one that won't damage the lawn. Many thanks.

We are getting increasingly more brown spots on our lawn, we've treated for chafer grubs and leather jackets and also red thread fungus but they are getting worse, any suggestions please.
It is possible that mowing the grass too close damaged it because it had grown tall. To avoid damaging grass it is best to only cut the top third of the blade at each mowing.

Never really recovered from 2018 drought. Very Sandy soil prone to ants.
Unfortunately, to have a nice lawn you have to work at it. Correct mowing, frequent watering, fertilizer, weed control, and periodic de-thatching are required. Without any one of those, the lawn will thin and weeds will set in. It sounds like crabgrass or quack grass may have invaded your lawn. Grass can get prickly if allowed to grow too tall. The bottom of the stalk is stiff compared to the leafy top. No more than 1/3 of a grass blade's length should be cut when mowing. Although identifying weedy grasses is difficult, you can find good pictures at Scotts.com or another lawn care product website. Ants like sandy soil. I can't identify the weeds as the picture is blurry when I blow it up. The first step in rehabing a lawn is to know which weeds are a problem. Once you know that, you can find information on this website on how to control it. After weed control, you'll need to reseed the lawn this fall as there will be bare patches which will "sponsor" a new set of weeds. If you are adverse to using herbicides, your best option is to kill everything and start over with seed or sod. I've provided three links. One goes to lawn weed ID and one on killing the lawn without herbicides. The last one goes to a listing of all the lawn articles on this website.

I also have some grub problem in areas of the lawn which I have treated with something that should fix the problem. Are the two related?
Rust is a fungal disorder and grubs are an insect pest, so the two are not directly related, and control methods and materials will be different. But climate and growing conditions factors can contribute to both.
