The tree is about seven years old
The change in your tree's leaves could be due to several different issues. Whether it's in the roots, a pruning issue or a pest of some kind, here's an article that will help:

We planted a jacaranda sapling in May 2019. 1 trunk with leaves. It has been growing straight up the trunk since we planted it, with just two leaves off the each side, and now it has begun having 4 leaves off the sides, but they are still all just leaves. When will it begin branching out? Someone said that I may have to top off the tree to get it to branch out. Will I need to do that, and if so, when? I am 5 fee tall. When we planted it, the sapling was much shorter than me. It is now so tall I can't reach the top any more. That's 4 months of growth. Please help? Mrs. BJ Miranda jbrrmacy@aol.com thank you!
Prune tree sapling about waist high to induce branching. Cut at a 45 degree angle above a bud. Once you get branches, you can follow these pruning tips:

My Jacaramda is 2 years old and got hit hard last Winter. Came back strong this year and had some great growth. We recently had a ton of rain over a 5 day period and now the leaves are turning brown and we are dropping small branches. Haven’t seen it do this before and lost on what to do. Thank you
This can happen with wet soils.
I would treat with a fungicide (biofungicides are a wonderful preventative to go along with the main treatment).

Can a jacaranda tree dropping leaves, etc., kill a lawn under its branches?
When the flowers drop, if they are not removed, they can be reduced to a slimy mess which could suffocate a lawn or cause fungal disease. However, unless the grass is shade tolerant, just being located under a tree can kill grass. And yes, any covering of leaves that gets matted or sits on grass for too long has the potential to kill the grass and attract unwanted pests. You should try to keep the area raked and free of leaves. The raked leaves can be composted or run over with a composting mower.

I have a young potted jacaranda and am in zone 9b in the Sacramento area. I got it in April 2020 and it added some 7-8 inches of new growth for 6 months. It stopped growing around late October but stayed evergreen until late January when the leaves began to slowly turn light green to yellow and fall off. That was not a concern until even limbs began to easily break off. Even with our mild winters I always brought in at night only leaving outside during the day. I can't find any pictures online on what a normal Jacaranda looks like in a zone 9b winter. Do small Jacaranda saplings also drop small limbs in late winter? Is this normal?
Likely, it is lacking in nutrients. Trees in container use nutrients very quickly. They must be replenished occasionally to make up for this.
The tree is hardy in your area, though. Planting in the ground will give it a much better chance for survival. If you do choose to keep it in a container, then you may want to size up to avoid the tree becoming rootbound.

My jacaranda is growing about 40 cm from bottom, then has a long main stem with nothing on it, it then has a canopy on the top.Thankyou
I would remove the lower branches, especially if your tree is grafted and they are below the graft point. Here is more:

We live on the eastern coast of florida & love our purple/blue Jacaranda tree. Last week we were on the western coast of florida & saw many bright orange/red blooms on a "fern" type tree & were sure it was also a Jacaranda....do they produce different colors & if so, how many colors?
I couldn't find mention of any other color of Jacaranda tree and wonder if you saw a flame tree.
