With my hydroponic garden, I am rooting houseplants. Will I harm the plants by adding food color to the water to give the garden some added color?
Can you use urea for a hydroponics fertilizer? I was thinking of growing a plant in the urea fertilizer doing hydroponics. Or do I have to mix urea with a hydroponics fertilizer to make it work? I want to see the effect of urea of the growth of a plant. Thanks.
I can't find good sources on using urea in hydroponic systems, so it may be a less common source of nitrogen for hdroponics. It is worth some experimentation though! Urea should work if you find the right concentration- in aquaponics, where fish are raised together with plants, urea from the fish waste is a main source of nitrogen for the plants:

1. How deep must the airstone be in the water to get maximum oxygen? 2. How can you determine if the plants are getting enough oxygen? Thank you. Koos van Rooyen.
The airstone should be placed on the floor of the tank. This site has illustrations of a few different setups:

The simplest answer to your second question is: You can tell if they look happy. If the plants aren't getting enough oxygen, the roots will start to smother and you'll notice a rapid decline in health.

Hello, I am interested in purchasing one of those small counter top indoor hydroponic units. But I am not sure if hydroponics in natural or organic! Can you assist or point me towards any resources that can clarify this? Thanks, Ravi
organic simply refers to produce being grown without any chemicals or pesticides being used. as long as any product you use on your plants is certified organic than you are achieving organic gardening. As to hydroponics you are simply growing the plant using fertilized water rather than dirt. Just use filtered or distilled water with an organic fertilizer for hydroponics ( or lookup the correct amount of a fertilizer to use in a hydroponic solution). A good quality LED (lowest power consumption) grow light is also essential to success if you don't have a small greenhouse.
When growing herbs indoors in water, how often do you change the water? Do you add liquid fertilizer? If so, how much and how often? Is the answer the same for growing lucky bamboo in water?

All of this is taking place on a covered deck. Using a 5' kiddy pool. I have built a floating garden.I have used 2" Styrofoam cut for the diameter of pool and I have cut holes for the Styrofoam cups. Cut out some holes in the bottom of cups for roots. I am using clean while pebbles to hold my plants in the cups. Added my master blends fertilizer,Epsom salt and calcium nitrate.I have bought an aquarium air pump. I believe I have built a garden on items I already had to reduce cost. Already had a pack of celery plants to put into cups. Also purchased some lettuce plants today. We are still experiencing high heat and humidity in our neck of the woods. Have a plan for cold weather that will include aquarium heater and relocation or added heat if need be. Question. How are we doing so far?
It sounds like you have a good idea of what you are doing so far. I would say that the heat is the only thing that will set you back here, with celery.

I'm starting with hydroponic and I would like to setup a system in my house (outdoor) using nutrient film technique and/or drip system. In order to do that I will need the pump runing 24 hours every day to recirculate water and nutrients. Rather than spending electricity and incrase my bill, I would like to run the system using a 12v battery (the one used for lawn & garden mowers or motorcycles 35 Ah) and a solar paner to recharge the battery (5 or 7 watts). I'm not sure if I can connect 4 clamps to the battery (2 from the pump and 2 from solar panel). Any suggestion?
I would seek resources geared toward solar panels for that side of things. This PDF has some interesting information regarding such applications: https://www.academia.edu/36989127/Design_and_Development_of_Solar_Powered_Smart_Hydroponic_Greenhouse
