    Also, boiling water poured over them is very effective. Be aware that boiling water will kill any vegetation it comes into contact with, so do not use this near plants you want to keep.

    Yes, it was due to the seeds being planted. Seeds will produce a combination of the two parent plants, and if the parent horseradish crossed with a botanically similar plant, the result will not be a horseradish. It is better to use root cuttings or seeds from a company that controlled the pollination to establish new plants.
