I have a plant that was left outside in its pot, when the winter got cold .when the winter warms up if I cut it down is there a hope that it will come back. I live in east Texas.
Yes. It does have a chance at surviving. Just keep it indoors until the weather warms back up. take care of it as you would normally. It will be in a dormant state until spring more than likely. When it warms up, then you can trim the dead parts.
I goofed and left it outside to long and we had a cold snap. All the leaves died. I broughtit in and watered it lightly. It now has leaves growing out down at the bottom. Do I have to cut the whole upper part off it's about 3ft. tall. thank you
I think it is too soon to tell about the upper leaves. If all goes well, the plant will recover from its shock and send out new leaves higher up. Watch the stems; they will become soft and change color if they are dead. If you trim the highest most branch, it might be obvious that it is gone. It should look something like this: https://www.sciencesource.com/archive/Hibiscus-stem-SS2118314.html
The colors vary depending on variety. Search for images of hibiscus stem cross-section.
Hello, I returned from a 5 day trip and found that our furnace was not working. The indoor temp was 40 degrees! I lost a number of houseplants, but my hibiscus plants have almost no leaves on them, and appear to be infested with aphids. I already have cut them back by 1/3, showered them, and applied insecticidal granules to the soil. It's a long time until June; is there any hope? Thanks
You do not want to prune hibiscus until right before you put them out for spring. It is common for one to lose its leaves indoors anyways. The lack of humidity forces it into a semi dormant state. The only thing you can do now is water it when it is bone dry only, and wait until you can put it outside. It is very possible that it will not survive with the early pruning, but anything that can be done will be on its own.

my hibiscus froze during a night! should I prune it? will it o e back to life?
It's best to wait until spring before you do any pruning. Freeze-damaged plants can often recover if they're given time. First, protect the plant from future freeze damage by putting blankets or burlap over it if any future freezes are predicted. Then, wait to see if the plant puts out leaves in spring or early summer. Then, you'll be able to see which parts of the plant have died and prune accordingly. Also see this article:

I have a Hibiscus plant that looks like it might have a pest influx or mildew problem. Leaves are yellow with spots on them. Some look like they have been eaten by bugs. Any idea what might be causing this ?
There are a few pests that can be issues with Hibiscus; Spider Mites are quite common.
Treat your plant with Neem Oil.
