I have had my hen and chick plant since spring. It has no chicks and it is turning purple red. Is this normal? Should I move inside for winter. Live in north ga?
It will do best indoors over winter, but many can survive your area. It just depends on the cultivar. Some of them will turn colors naturally, and this will, again, depend on the cultivar.

My hens & chicks plants all have a lot of brown at the base of the plant but the tops are still nice and green. Are they dying? Can they be saved?
This can be somewhat normal, as the old growth dies off. It can also signify a lack of light. If they seem to have an elongated stem, then would even more further the suspicion that this is the case. Here is an article that will give you more information on the care of these: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/cacti-succulents/hens-chicks/growing-hens-and-chicks.htm
Do you leave the long stem or do you trim it off close to the main flowering part?some of my transplants have a 3 to 4 inch stem
If they have a stem, you can leave it.

I have hen, no chicks. They fell off a couple yrs ago. The hen looks great but I get no chicks. She stays in full sun in an urn type planter (hard plastic), which I bought her in that. It has several side holes , I guess for chicks. She is in just plain dirt. Should I remove her and repot her in same pot but with different soil? Or should I put her in glass container with pebbles?

When I first purchased the hen and chicks plant it was green. It was indoors when I bought it. There was one hen and about 8 chicks and all were healthy. Some time after the plant was put in the garden it turned a reddish color. It has been outdoors for a year. The hen is now growing a long "neck" upwards. The chicks have taken root but seem to be about the same size they were when first purchased. Why did it turn red? Is something wrong with it? It gets full sun. It's close to a few big rocks (about a foot tall). I tried to "amend" the soil by mixing lots of sand in, and dug almost a foot deep first and put rocks down and then the sandy soil. Myra in Seattle WA. I'm sorry but I am not able to give you a photo.
Red coloration can be a sign of stress, but not necessarily distress. How much color change depends the species or cultivar, the season, the temperature, water availability, and the amount of sunlight. Many varieties can turn very red, and were selected for that genetic trait. As long as your plants 'continue to grow nicely and to proliferate impressively', there is nothing to worry about.
hen and chicken flower falls over before it blooms
Since flower stalks can reach 12 inches, this can happen. You can use a small bamboo stake or even a grilling wood skewer to stake up the flower stalk.
I've never seen this before after years of growing Hens and Chicks. What causes this and what should I do about it? Answers I've seen from it is about to flower and after that, remove the Hen, to remove it and replant it. Thanks for your help.
