I have grape Vines growing all over my chain link fence and we love them. We have never pruned them or even cut much. This year they look awful. We don't eat the grapes they r very bitter. We just want them to look nice next year. We have approx 7 roots in the ground. What should we do?
Its very possible to have contracted a soil fungus. You can treat the fungus many different ways. You can do one or more of the following: Use wettable sulfur on the soil around your plants, use need oil to spray on and around them, and for pH control, add dolomitic lime to your soil area. This will help control the pH, as sometimes it can change every few years.
i have a rose bush and I would like to ,if possible to put a grape vine approx. half a metre near it will they compete with each other? thank you
Grapevines are somewhat aggressive, and have a tendency to over-take the things around it. It is possible to get them both to survive, however, it will require a lot of help on your part. Keep the grape trimmed often, and keep it from climbing on your rose. You may have to fertilize more often, to compensate for them both being heavy feeders.

We bought one from Costco last spring, it grew beautifully, but no grapes. It's growing on a trellis, how do we prune it so we get grapes next year? We live in No. Nevada and it's cold already, we are losing the leaves, what is the best time to cut back? Thanks
You will want to cut the grapes back during dormancy. There are specific ways to do this to get a good crop. It is good to remember that grapes fruit on new growth, however, you still need to have a stalk established.
